Simone Biles Teases Return to 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles

Simone Biles Olympics

As the most decorated Olympic gymnast in history, Simone Biles has a lot to be proud of. She wrapped up her third Olympics in Paris in 2024. Quickly, speculation began as to whether that would be the end for whom many call the greatest of all time. Simone left Paris with three gold medals and a silver medal. It was a triumphant comeback after withdrawing from the Summer Games in Toyko in 2020. Life has changed a lot for Simone Biles since she began her Olympic career in 2016. Today, she’s a married woman and she and Johnathan Owens are settling down. But what does that mean for her Olympic career? Simone isn’t quite sure.

Simone Biles Has A Hard Time Wrapping Her Head Around All She’s Accomplished

Sports Illustrated named her the Sportsperson of the Year. And in an interview, Simone Biles admitted she’s not sure if she will compete in the Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 2028.

She explained, “Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again, and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.”

Simone admitted that her success is hard to understand.

“I don’t think the reality has set in of what I’ve exactly done in the sport,” she told Sports Illustrated. “I can see it, and I hear it from people, and I see a glimpse of it, but the full magnitude I don’t think I’ve realized just yet. I don’t think I’ll realize ’til maybe I retire and look back in a couple years like, Damn, she was good. Because I can see that, but I do it every day. So for me, it’s normal.”

But after taking home a gold medal in the women’s individual vault, Simone said in a news conference that she isn’t making any decisions quite yet. “Never say never. The Next Olympics are at home, so you just never know. I am getting really old.”
