We all love an underdog. Camryn Brooks auditioned for The Voice three years ago and didn’t get a single chair turn. While that may have left others feeling downhearted, it left Camryn feeling inspired. She took that critique and used it to make herself better. Three years later, she came back, and she earned herself a four-chair turn!

“The Voice”: A Comeback Story
Camryn Brooks originally auditioned for The Voice back in 2021. At the time, judges Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande, John Legend, and Blake Shelton did not turn for her. She told Parade, “It was just the most gut-wrenching feeling ever.” However, rather than be deterred by the setback, she decided to move forward with her life.
While she was thinking she should finish school before focusing on music, fate had other plans. Camryn was later diagnosed with myocarditis, a heart disease. At 21, she was struggling just to sing three words, let alone an entire song. She recalled, “I couldn’t even really talk without gasping for air. The first thought that came to my mind was, ‘Am I going to be able to sing again?'”
Rather than let fear paralyze her, Camryn used her condition as inspiration. She claimed that “going through something as scary as that really puts into perspective what matters,” and for her, singing mattered. So she worked with doctors endlessly on her heart health and now she is well enough to return to The Voice stage for another shot at her dreams.
Camryn Brooks Gets Her Happily Ever After
Camryn Brooks decided to perform Maggie Roberts’ Light On during her blind audition this year. When she began, she earned immediate cheers from the audience. Gwen Stefani was the first to hit her button, which made Camryn’s family go wild. Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, and Reba turned around shortly after.
She couldn’t help but jump for joy in the middle of her performance. The judges loved hearing her comeback story, and it made them even more excited to celebrate with her. Reba commented on how beautifully Camryn sang and Michael noted how he turned because he had “such bad FOMO.”
Snoop Dog pointed out all of Camryn Brooks’s incredible qualities. “Your voice, your tone, your composure, your stage presence,” but he highlighted that his favorite part was that she came back. He continued by sharing that she is the perfect example of why people should come back if they do not make it the first time.
All the judges had incredibly nice things to say to Camryn. But at the end of the day, she could only choose one coach on The Voice. This incredible singer chose to join Team Gwen.
