Animals are the best. From fascinating and odd to adorable and sweet, there’s so many reasons to admire the creatures we share our planet with. Best of all, many of the animals we love actually do love us back! At least we’d like to think so, anyway. That’s certainly how Paris Bamberg felt when given the chance to swim next to sea creatures on a snorkeling adventure!

During an outing in the Bahamas, Paris crossed paths with a green sea turtle. According to the National Marine Sanctuaries, it’s both dangerous and illegal to touch wildlife. This includes, of course, sea turtles. That said, if a curious creature simply insists on following you around… well, why not enjoy the moment? Paris captured hers in the video below.

“I hope my little sea turtle friend is living her best life,” Paris writes in the caption of her post.
Green sea turtles are such cool creatures. For starters, they’re said to be 110 million years old. That makes them one of the oldest animals on Earth! It also means they’ve been here since the time of dinosaurs. You might imagine a species that old being particularly fierce. But on the contrary, these little guys tend to be pretty friendly with us humans.

Plus, they’re herbivores, mainly munching on seagrasses and algae. In fact, this green-heavy diet is what makes their fat the very same color. Because, if you’ll notice, it’s their green skin that gives them their name, not their shell!
“I would cry. This is actually so cute,” someone admits in reply to Paris’ video, with another adding, “One of the biggest reason I would want to be a marine biologist.”
