Vending machines aren’t known for being a place to find a new pet, but that’s exactly how Lindsey Russell found her latest rescue.

This Morristown, Tennessee Walmart employee was on her lunch break when she first heard the sounds of a screeching kitten. Upon closer inspection, she discovered the poor thing had found herself stuck inside one of their outdoor vending machines – and in the middle of summer, no less.
“I tried all through my lunch and my last break to get her,” Lindsey said. “I tried recruiting co-workers to help me get her, and none of us could do it.”
Finally, she called the Morristown Fire Department who were happy to help. In less than 10 minutes, they were able to remove a few panels and coax the nervous kitten out.
As sad as it is that this sweet creature found herself in a life-threatening situation, she got lucky in one regard: The person who stopped to save her. In addition to playing a key role in this rescue mission, Lindsey has also decided to take the kitten home! They already have a few fitting name ideas.
“This is Pepper, Pepsi, Pep, whatever you’d like to call her,” Lindsey said. “She’s got a few nicknames now.”
Watch Lindsey (and Pepsi) talk about the rescue mission below, and don’t forget to share.
