Stop And Smell The Roses — Sea Lion Picks Perfect Spot For A Chin Scratch

A sea lion resting near a bunch of flowers.

Flowers may be pretty and all, but one sea lion seems to have found a more practical use for them. An observer in New Zealand caught some hilarious footage of this animal rubbing her face all over a patch of beautiful blooms. Britt, who shared the video on social media, thinks the sea lion might have been scratching an itch. Whatever the creature was up to, she certainly seemed to be comfortable in this stranger’s garden!

In her adorable clip, Britt filmed the sea lion relaxing next to a cluster of flowers growing on someone’s property. Suddenly, the animal began nuzzling her face back and forth across the foliage. This must have felt really good, because she seemed to be enjoying the sensation a lot!

“When you have an itch you just have to scratch — Mika the sea lion making herself at home in someone’s flower garden,” wrote Britt in the caption of her video.

This woman appears to spend a lot of time watching out for wildlife while traveling around New Zealand. She’s captured some truly amazing animal footage on social media. Sea lions are only one of the many kinds of creatures she’s been lucky enough to observe.

In another fascinating clip, Britt managed to film a couple of kiwi chasing each other around outside. As the woman joked in her caption, it almost looked like the birds were playing a game of tag!

Apparently, Britt doesn’t have to go far in order to see some incredible animals. One of her videos shows a wild marine mammal in her garden!
