“I’m too old, nobody cares,” said the woman, whose name is Laura.
That’s when Neenib knew he needed to change her mind. He decided to hand her the present he’d been saving — a stuffed animal holding an envelope with money inside. Laura was brought to tears when she received this gift given by a total stranger. She revealed that many of her friends were living in nursing homes or had passed away.
“I don’t want you to ever think you don’t have anyone,” Neenib told her. “Because there’s always someone there.”
One act of kindness often inspires another. When Laura got her surprise Christmas present, she decided to use the money inside to spread joy to someone else. She told Neenib that she would treat her friend with Alzheimer’s to lunch!
