Stranger Rescues Amputee Motorist & His Dog During Flash Flooding

View from behind of two men pushing a car through flooded waters. The water is so high it reaches their knees and higher

Have you ever experienced 24 hours of near-constant rainfall? In theory, this might sound nice. But as the folks in Southbury, Connecticut saw this Sunday, this is the kind of weather that can be life-threatening. After so much rain, many areas became dangerously flooded. In fact, the flood was so bad on Main Street South and Highway 6 that an amputee and his dog required rescue ASAP.

With so many others also struggling, finding help wasn’t easy. But as luck would have it, a kind stranger was at the right place, at the right time. Seeing that there was someone in need of help, the man ventured out into the flooded road. Once he arrived at the passenger side of the car, he was able to help the man get out. Next, they helped his dog, who was no doubt anxiously waiting from the backseat.

As the video footage from above shows, it wasn’t easy for any of them to navigate these waters. But together, they were able to make it back to solid ground. The person who captured this footage, Tania Carver, was also able to give details beyond what is shown in their video.

When an Amputee and His Dog Get Stranded in a Flood, a Brave Stranger Comes to Their Rescue

“The good Samaritan was able to help the man to safety,” Tania shares. “He then went back for his dog and prosthetic. Everyone was OK! Wet and cold, but OK. The man was able to place his prosthetic leg back on and get up on his feet.”

With the video going viral, folks from all over are taking the time to thank this kind stranger for his brave actions.

“We are giving fifteen minutes of fame to the wrong people. This man deserves to be known,” one person shares, with another adding, “How frightening for all of them — thank God for kindness & heroism.”
