Anyone who has ever seen a cicada has probably exclaimed that it is one if the ugliest and loudest bugs on the planet. The voice of experience tells me not to put one in a coffee can and shake it. They don’t like that (Don’t ask). However, Isabel Wherry’s daughter loves all things cicada. Isabel has discussed this on her TikTok, and fans have been sending the cicada girl all manner of oddities.

One of Aspen’s favorite cicada items is the Halloween costume that she is wearing in the video. To be fair, the girl is barely bigger than a cicada. Her collection of empty shells is huge. She treats them with tender, loving care and plays with the bugs constantly.

So far, there are three installments in the “Things people have sent my daughter” series. Among the girl’s favorite items are the Halloween costume, a backpack, a pillow made from a picture of her first cicada, and a host of stuffed cicadas.

An entomologist sent an entire bug collection to the tiny girl who loves cicadas. There is cicada sidewalk chalk, resin cubes, countless books and stickers, and too much more to list. In truth, this tiny tot is just as happy with her collection of empty shells as she is with all the toys people have generously sent.

If you’re interested in staying up-to-date with the cicada girl, you can find her mom on TikTok and Instagram. There you will find adorable videos of Aspen interacting with her collection. She treats the empty shells so gently it is incredible. Learn about all the places she insisted on taking her first cicada shell!

Please share if this girl’s love for cicadas makes you smile.
