When Liz Hatton, a 17-year-old aspiring photographer from Harrogate, England, was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she created a photography bucket list. Her diagnosis gave her only a few months to a few years to live, so she wanted to make the best of it.

PumpkinsandPost-Its, @2ndtimemama, posted some of Liz’s list on X, which included photographing the rehearsal or a major musical, publishing photos in magazines, and photographing London Fashion Week. The list also mentioned, “She would also jump at any other photography-based opportunities. Please help us to give her the life she deserves in the short time she has.”

Windsor Castle Called With A Unique Request
Per the Sunday Times, Liz received a request to photograph and attend an investiture at Windsor Castle but had no idea how big the opportunity would be. During her visit, Liz not only took pictures but also had a chance to meet Kate Middleton.
“When we got there, we were told that the prince would say a quick hello. So I thought, OK, you’d be like, ‘Hi’, and then that would be it,” Liz told the Times. “But then we were sitting in the little area on the sofa, and then all of a sudden they just walk in and we were like, ‘Oh!’ I felt very honored.”
Liz and Kate had a sweet chat that didn’t revolve around cancer treatment. Instead, they shared tips and their passion for photography.

Kate Middleton and Prince William shared photos of themselves with Liz on X, along with high compliments,
“A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us. W&C.”
Liz told the Times that her future is a mystery, but she wants to enjoy it all.
“It is uncertain how long I have, how long I’ll live. But it is certain that it won’t be for a long time. And so because of that, I feel like the only thing you can do is do as much as possible, as much as possible of what you want to do and what you enjoy,” the teen said. “And to spend it with the people you love.”
