Ice dancing is a truly beautiful sport to behold, and at the 2018 Olympic games, no pair is more exciting to watch than Canadian duo Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.

At the team figure skating competition at the Pyeongchang, South Korea, Olympic games, Tessa and Scott made headlines all over the world, but not just for their outstanding performance. The pair put on a memorable dance to a mashup of “Moulin Rouge” songs, including “Come What May” and “Roxanne,” sung by Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. Their flawless performance secured a gold medal victory for team Canada, but what really had tongues wagging was the way Tessa and Scott looked at each other as they performed.

They look, for lack of a better term, like they’re in love.

While it’s not unusual for ice skating pairs to look a bit romantic in their routines, these two ratchet the heat up several notches every time they take to the ice! The way they gaze longingly into each other’s eyes and softly caress one another’s face would lead anybody to believe that they’re an item, both on and off the ice.

But they’re not.

Even though they do stuff like this:

Though their moves are incredibly passionate, they’re also captivating to behold. The difficulty and intricacy of each move are what sets them apart from the rest.

These two clearly have chemistry to spare, but much to the displeasure of just about everyone who watches them in action, they insist they’re not “together.”

“It’s a special partnership,”Tessa said. “We still really enjoy skating together and I think that’s why we still are.â€

The two have been skating together since they were children, and when they were about seven and nine years old, respectively, they admitted to having romantic feelings for one another for a solid eight months. By the time actual puberty hit, though, both Tessa and Scott decided they were better off as friends.

They’ve been incredibly successful in their career, scoring three World Championship wins, eight Canadian championship wins, two Olympic golds, and two silver medals. After winning a silver in Sochi, Russia back in 2014, they took a two-year-break before returning for a final time in Pyeongchang.

At first, fans wondered if they still had “it,” but Tessa and Scott quickly put those fears to rest.

When asked about their hotter-than-hot on-ice chemistry, Scott says the audience’s reaction means they’re just good at their jobs. “We’re always telling stories, we’re supposed to be reacting, a man and woman on the ice, it’s romantic. What we have is such a cool relationship. It’s more about a friendship, our working relationship is so strong. We take so much pride in that.â€

So yeah… they’re just friends. But that doesn’t stop the entire world (and internet) from assuming. Twitter is filled with posts about people who long to see these two finally admit that they’re passionately in love.
