The winter is just beginning, and for many people, that means cold weather and gloomy skies. But don’t fret. This time of year also has a sweet spot. January means the beginning of Girl Scout cookie season. ABC Bakers or Little Brownie Bakers bake the iconic cookies, and some have different names depending on where you live. Whether you are a Thin Mint person or can’t get enough Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, Samoas/Caramel deLites, or Trefoils, this is your time to shine. Your favorite scouts will begin selling the delicious treats on January 7. But along with the start of Girl Scout cookie season comes an announcement that 2025 will be the last time to order two types of cookies.

The Girl Scouts of the USA Plan To Retire Two Cookie Varieties
At the end of 2025, Toast-Yay! and S’mores will be gone. A representative for GSUSA confirmed the news with Good Morning America: “We routinely reevaluate our cookie lineup to make room for new innovations. Discontinuing Toast-Yay! and Girl Scout S’mores® may lead to something new and delicious.”
While many of us enjoy eating Girl Scout Cookies, they are more than just a tasty treat. Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts in 1912, and for more than 100 years, the organization has helped young women build skills and friendships that last a lifetime.
According to the Girl Scout USA website, buying and selling cookies builds character. “Girl Scout Cookies are so much more than a sweet snack. Every purchase fuels the largest entrepreneurial program in the world for girls. When you buy cookies, you’re helping girls gain life-changing skills like goal-setting, decision-making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.”
Look for Girl Scout cookies in your area this season. When you purchase a tasty treat, you make a difference.
