The Milwaukee Brewers Give Bob Uecker A Beautiful Tribute Following Baseball Legend’s Passing

It’s a sad day for baseball fans. Bob Uecker, legendary broadcaster and voice of the Milwaukee Brewers for 54 seasons, passed away at age 90. The team shared the news on Instagram with a touching tribute to a man known for his wit, comedic timing, and classic one-liners.

The post called the hometown hero the “heart and soul of Wisconsin.” It continues in part, “Saying goodbye to Bob shakes us all. He was so much more than a Milwaukee Brewers icon. He was a national treasure. Bob entertained us with his words and storytelling, so it is no surprise that his passing now leaves us at a loss for our own words. There is no describing the impact Ueck had on so many, and no words for how much he was loved. We are left with a giant void in our hearts, but also remember the laughter and joy he brought to our lives throughout the years.”

Fans shared in the team’s heartache in losing Bob Uecker.

One wrote, “What a true legend. A baseball icon. Rest In Peace, Bob. You will be missed dearly by many.”

This fan hopes for big things for the Brewers this season. “He was the definition of a Milwaukee Brewer. He embodied what it means to be part of this organization. Bring it home for Bob, honor him the right way, and make him proud.”

Bob Uecker’s Family Shared A Statement About His Death

The Brewers shared the Uecker family’s statement that Bob received a small cell lung cancer diagnosis in 2023 but chose to keep his diagnosis private. The family said he faced cancer with strength and resilience.

The will certainly miss him. Writing in part, “He brought joy to countless listeners through his wit, charisma, and love for baseball, Milwaukee, and all of Wisconsin, creating a legacy that will forever be cherished. While his contributions to the game are noteworthy, it is his kindness, humility, and love for family and friends that we will hold closest to our hearts.”
