We’ll probably never run out of reasons to remember Robin Williams with love. This legendary comedian was truly one-of-a-kind, not just because of his immense talent, but also because of his kindness! Last December, the late actor’s daughter revealed yet another way this man touched people’s lives. People tells us that, while speaking at Comic Relief Live, Zelda Williams explained how her father used his privilege to help others.

“My dad, on all of his projects and especially when he was on tour, would hire homeless people,” the 35-year-old said. “He would actively give them jobs.”

Zelda continued with an inspiring appeal to the audience. She encouraged those with the means to employ homeless people to do so.

“Please, if you ever have an opening, at least consider it,” she said, adding, “It makes an enormous difference for people generationally. It doesn’t just take incredible organizations like [Comic Relief]. It takes individuals. So if you ever don’t think that you as a single person or as a person who has a business can make a difference, please know you can, even if you’re hiring just one person.”

Robin Williams has received one of the first Comic Relief US Icon Awards.

According to an online post from Comic Relief US, this was the non-profit organization’s first live event of its kind. Equally momentous was the distribution of the first Comic Relief US Icon Awards. Robin Williams received the honor along with fellow comedians Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg. The latter two stars gave truly moving speeches.

“Using the power of comedy to tackle life’s problems has been a huge part of my life,” Crystal stated. “My partnership with Whoopi and Robin and all who made our shows successful is a highlight of my career and it’s truly special for us to be honored by Comic Relief US. After all these years, it’s incredible to see the enduring impact the organization has made and will continue to make.”

Whoopi Goldberg also mentioned Billy Crystal and Robin Williams in her speech.

“When Billy, Robin, and I started our comedy shows, we wanted to make people laugh, but more importantly, we wanted to make a difference for the families and communities that were hurting, particularly those experiencing homelessness,” she said.

The actress continued, “The funds we raised created safe spaces for families, women, and children that are still going to this day – this is what Comic Relief was and is still magnificent at.”

People explained that Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg have been working with Comic Relief US for four decades. As Crystal recalled during the live event, Robin Williams had been involved, as well.

“Robin and I were good friends, only to become great friends and, later, brothers,” he said. “We were thrown together with this incredible idea that funny people could help with aiding the homeless, which is one of America’s tragedies that we don’t like to talk about.”

It’s heartbreaking that Robin Williams could not be there to accept his award and hear all the wonderful things his daughter and his colleagues had to say about him. However, we’re sure he would be proud to know that he left behind such a beautiful legacy.
