NBC announced on March 25 that the four-time Grammy winner will be joining the show as a mega mentor beginning April 8. His job will be to help the singers who make it through the battle rounds prepare for the knockouts. Keith will be working alongside coaches Reba McEntire, Dan + Shay, Chand the Rapper, and John Legend.
During the knockouts, singers are paired with a teammate, but they have to select their songs on their own and perform them alone. The coaches will select one winner from the team to move to the playoffs, which is the last round before the live episodes. Each coach will have the chance to steal one singer during the knockouts, just as they did during the battles.
This won’t be Keith’s first apperance on The Voice. During Season 15, he worked as Blake Shelton’s advisor in two episodes. He also starred as a coach for The Voice Australia during Season 1, 10, and 11.
Watch Keith Urban as a Mega Mentor when The Voice airs on NBC on Mondays at 8 PM CT and Tuesdays at 9 PM CT.
