“This Is Your Sign To Have Flower Grandparents Instead Of Flower Girls At Your Wedding”

A man crying on his wedding day.

One couple decided to turn a popular wedding tradition on its head by having “flower grandparents” scatter petals down the aisle. Although this role is usually reserved for young girls, Faye Plunkett and her partner thought it would be special to have the groom’s grandma and grandpa perform the task instead. They were totally right! Footage from their wedding ceremony shows just how touching this moment was for everyone involved.

In a beautiful clip on social media, the flower grandparents walked arm in arm down the aisle, tossing handfuls of petals from a basket as they went. They looked so happy to have an important role in the wedding ceremony! Meanwhile, there were tears in the groom’s eyes as he watched the elderly pair.

When the flower grandparents finally completed their task, they went up to the husband-to-be and gave him a hug. He was clearly overcome with emotion during the sweet moment!

“This is your sign to have flower grandparents instead of flower girls at your wedding,” Faye wrote over the heartwarming footage.

According to Good Morning America, the grandparents in the video are Brian and Jenny Bayliss. They are 82 and 80, respectively. It meant a lot to them that their grandson and his bride wanted them to be a part of the wedding.

“They loved it,” Faye said. “I don’t think they were expecting George to be so emotional but they have since said that they were so honored to be first down the aisle.”

It’s so sweet that this bride and groom found such a unique and meaningful way to get Grandma and Grandpa involved on their special day! We hope more couples decide to include flower grandparents in their wedding ceremonies.
