This Jazz Routine Is So Riveting It Will Have You On The Edge Of Your Seat!

When it comes to college championships, those that fall under the category of “sports” tends to get the most press. But there are plenty of others that deserve just as much attention and awe, including the Universal Dance Association’s College National Champions. Each year, teams in three divisions compete in three dance categories: Hip hop, jazz, and pom. The 2025 competition took place Jan. 17-19.

Across the United States, these competing teams work hard to prepare for this event, something that couldn’t be clearer in their performances! Still, only a select few can claim the title of National Champion. This year, in the jazz category, that title goes to the Ohio State Dance Team. Their mesmerizing performance blew up online! “I can’t get over this. How does one even visualize this let alone teach? The energy. The emotion. The screams. Incredible,” someone shares in reply to Ohio State’s performance, another person adding, “This was so unsettling for me. The gloves, the strings, the glitch movements… it made me FEEL discordant somehow. That’s kind of incredible.”

This hypnotic performance is so incredible, even fellow dance professionals are blown away! The skill and dedication it takes to pull off a routine like this is just that impressive. In addition to the talent of the dancers, we also have to give credit to the phenomenal choreographer. Plus, you may even recognize him… Ricky Ubeda!

For those who aren’t aware, Ricky was a contestant on season 11 of the hit show So You Think You Can Dance. But he wasn’t just any competitor: He won! In other words, the Ohio State Dance Team had a great team to support them on their journey. We can’t wait to see what they do next year!
