He went surfing on a family vacation to Hawaii when he was 12. While surfing, he felt a strange pain. He managed to make it back to his hotel. Within 15 minutes, he was unable to move his legs. At the hospital, Timson was told he had Surfer’s Myelopathy. Doctors informed him that the spinal cord injury meant he would never walk again. But the doctors had never met Tim Marovt.

Timson decided that he was not going to accept that prognosis. He began a “journey of recovery” that would test every fiber of his being. His first step was visualizing himself walking again. Using that vision, he worked hard. Within a year, he took his first unaided steps. Regaining his strength, he faced and overcame many obstacles along the way.

Using the power of his mind and the visualization of walking, Tim Marovt fought his way back. The road was lined with support from his family, his confidence and persistence, and a lot of hard work. Walking is challenging, but ten years later, Timson is still fighting and working on improving. On his website, he credits the power of thought, “It was the power of mind that has changed my life, the very same power that we all possess within us and that makes us achieving things that once seemed impossible.”

Tim Marovt: From 5 Kilometers To Marathons And Beyond

The recovery was slow. It took Timson eight long years of hard work before he could walk five kilometers. Since then, he has completed more than 15 races of 10 kilometers or longer. He has set a goal for himself to run in all major marathons around the world. He also wants to return to Hawaii to compete in the Hawaii Ironman.
