TikToker Mia Arianna (@mia.ariannaa on TikTok) gained traction after sharing her adorable son’s friendly Target greetings. Little Azai stands at the front of his local Target and speaks with shoppers as they enter the store. Not only does he brightens the days of Target customers, but he also touches lives across the world through his videos on TikTok.
After seeing the kindness and cheer Azai spreads through his interactions, the Target brand reached out to his mother to make him an “honorary team member” for a day. That’s right — Azai got to join Target’s Huntersville store as part of the staff.
The one-year-old viral toddler showed up to his Target shift wearing his very own uniform, sporting the signature red shirt. During his “work day,” he got to greet customers (as usual), as well as join the team’s morning huddle and check inventory in the toy department. Other staff members happily “trained” Azai for his well-earned role. They showed him around the store and helped him learn important tasks.
When interviewed by PEOPLE earlier this month, Mia gushed that her son was a natural social butterfly.
“Azai started showing signs of being super social when he was about 6 months old,” she said. “He would just crawl around saying hi to everyone … He also would let anybody pick him up. He’s never been afraid of strangers.”
His outgoing personality and excellent verbal communication skills certainly helped Azai land the job.
At the end of his “shift,” the Huntersville Target store gifted Azai a $500 gift card for his hard work. Not only that, but they also made a $10,000 donation on his behalf to Classroom Central, an organization that donates free school supplies to teachers.
As for the viral toddler’s future at Target? Azai will continue to brighten customers’ days.
“The smile, the glow, the surprise on people’s faces is heartwarming because I know that my baby is spreading love and you never know who needs it,” Mia said.
