Too Cute: Tiny Elephant Calf Takes On Giant Toy Ball In Precious Clip

When this baby elephant received a huge toy ball to play with, they were pretty excited. Unfortunately, they couldn’t quite seem to figure out how it worked! In a hilarious video from Fresno Chaffee Zoo, an elephant calf got to enjoy some playtime with a massive enrichment ball. However, since this toy was just about as tall as the animal, it was a little difficult to roll!

At first, it seemed like the baby elephant was trying to move the ball by pushing against it with their body weight. They also attempted to wrap their tiny trunk around it, which didn’t yield the desired results. When coming at it from the front wasn’t working, the small animal tried leaning their side against it. Still, the ball wouldn’t budge. It didn’t help that it seemed to be caught in a slight dip in the sand.

At the end of this precious clip, the baby elephant eventually ended up laying on the ground next to the ball. It wasn’t clear if the creature lost their footing, or if they simply got tired and gave up. It’s also possible that this was an attempt to attack the stubborn toy from a different angle. Whatever the animal’s intention, the way they flopped down in the sand was way too adorable!

Commenters loved seeing how determined this tiny baby elephant was to play with the large toy.

It’s true; baby elephants do sometimes struggle while learning to control their trunks! For example, this calf at Disney’s Animal Kingdom had some trouble figuring out how to drink water using this appendage. Isn’t it cute watching young animals learn the ropes?
