Excuse You! Trail Cam Captures Black Bear’s Impressive Flatulence

Images show a trail cam image of a bear rolling in the woods. In the right image the bear farts before falling asleep.

The age-old question has finally been answered. Yes, Virginia, a bear does fart in the woods! In an epic trail cam capture, Bob Etzweiler, shows us definitive proof. His trail cam in Marlboro, Vermont, caught the scene in April 2024. The innocent-looking bear lets loose with a bout of flatulence to make Grandma proud, then immediately falls asleep.

It never fails. When farts are present, most of us turn into 12-year-old boys. Farts bring out the giggles amidst hooting and hollering about the odors that accompany this bodily function. Whether you are home alone or out in public, a well-placed fart will cause an involuntary spurt of laughter.

Every person and most animals fart as a way of releasing gas from our digestive tracts. Seagulls cannot fart, so please don’t feed them Alka-Seltzer. Farting is a normal bodily function, but it can still be embarrassing. Watching this bear as he farts offers satisfaction in knowing that nature haunts other living beings.

Dogs can occasionally release some wonderfully awful odors. Puppies are hilarious as they look at their butt, trying to figure out what that was. As a cat owner, I can attest that they have run me out of a room on more than one occasion. If you’re a human and emit a “silent but deadly” blast, you can always blame it on the dog to avoid embarrassment. The dog won’t care, trust me (I speak with the voice of experience).

Although bear farts aren’t a common catch on trail cams, bears get curious about the technology. Bear snouts are a common sight as the animals enjoy booping cameras. We can bearly stand the cuteness overload! If you laughed at the bear farts, please share.
