Vet’s Office Shares Silly Clip Of Increasingly Derpy Pets

A dog making a funny face after waking up from anesthesia.

It’s pretty important for veterinarians to use anesthesia on pets during certain medical procedures, but the downside is that it can make them increasingly derpy throughout their visit. One vet’s office, though, has proven that this unfortunate side effect can actually be pretty hilarious! AZ Vet Direct shared a video on social media of some of their patients recovering after being sedated. Their post-anesthesia faces are pretty funny!

To showcase their animals’ silliest expressions, AZ Vet Direct decided to participate in the popular, “Oh look, a strawberry” trend. This viral video format uses an audio that repeats the titular phrase in progressively slurred voices. Usually, it’s paired with clips of increasingly derpy-looking pets, which is exactly how the vet’s office used it.

Their video begins with footage of a slightly sleepy kitty blinking slowly. Next, they show a big dog who is laying down in the corner of the room, mouth open in a daze. From there on, the pets become increasingly derpy. In the final clip, one pooch has his face pressed up against the bars of his cage with his tongue hanging out!

“Oh look, a strawberry” is a slightly controversial trend.

Everyone seemed to love this hilarious compilation, which has received over three million views on social media. However, Dexerto tells us that some videos using this audio have come under fire from commenters. A few commenters thought it was mean to rate pets like this, starting with the most “normal” one with each clip getting increasingly derpy. They felt like owners were implying that some of their animals were ugly!

Obviously, this isn’t the message behind AZ Vet Direct’s post at all. They weren’t making fun of these pets’ appearances, but enjoying the silliness of their increasingly derpy expressions after receiving anesthesia. Almost everyone looks and acts a bit unusual after being sedated in the doctor’s office!
