“Watch My Husband Go From Being In A Coma & Almost Dying To Deadlifting 135”

A man in a coma lays in a hospital bed, hooked up to machines. A woman stand next to the bed, looking down at him

In September of last year, Stacie Barber’s life changed forever. Her husband experienced what a neurosurgeon said was “one of the biggest hemorrhagic strokes” he had ever seen. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Stacie was in another country when it happened. Once she was able to reunite with her husband, however, their difficult journey had just begun. Soon, her husband was in a coma.

“[Logan] also had pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) & he developed a pulmonary embolism in the hospital,” Stacie shares on social media. “I honestly never thought I’d see my husband again.”

Stacie also feared their 10-month-old daughter would have to grow up without her dad. All these fears, and more, were overwhelming. But through them all, she stayed by Logan’s side to support him in any way she could. With time, and so much effort from health professionals and Logan himself, he started to get better.

While Logan still has a long way to go, the improvements he’s already made are mind-blowing. Watch his incredible journey in the emotional video below!

“No one really knows how he survived not 1, not 2, but 3 things that individually were almost sure to kill him,” Stacie writes. “But maybe it’s because together, him and I are meant to redefine what’s possible for stroke recovery by combining neuro rehab with ortho rehab with strength & conditioning principles.”

As Stacie and her family continue down this path of healing, there are sure to be more hurdles. But together, they know they can handle whatever else life throws their way.

“I don’t know what the future holds, or what’s in store for us,” Stacie admits, “but I know for certain that together, Logan will reach any goal he sets for himself…. because that’s just who he is. And me? I will continue to do whatever I can to help him and support him so our family can one day become whole again.”
