Cooper was accompanied by a handler with a leash the entire time. To encourage the coyote, this woman even chimed in with a few yips and howls of her own! Audience members were quiet and still as they observed the beautiful animal.
The Creature Conservancy shared a video of this coyote’s song on social media, which has received over a million views. Commenters agreed that, although Cooper was pretty adorable, it would be extremely frightening to encounter a pack of these creatures in the wild.
“Cute here but not when you hear 10 of them in the near distance in the middle of the night,” wrote one user.
Another added, “Let me tell you, hearing 12 of those off in the distance in the dead of night is absolutely terrifying.”
Coyotes may be scary, but they sure can sing!
As it turns out, though, a pack of wild coyotes can also make some beautiful music! One trail camera managed to capture a group of these animals singing at night, and the footage is hauntingly lovely. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to encounter these creatures close-up, but seeing them from afar is pretty amazing!
Although it’s true that coyotes can be dangerous, we do have to remember that we share the planet with these animals. So, it’s important to learn how we can do so responsibly. That’s one of The Creature Conservancy’s main goals: to teach people about different types of critters so that we can help create a better environment for everyone! According to their website, their motto is “Conservation Through Education.”
Thanks to Cooper, audiences were able to learn more about our coyote friends and the songs they sing. What an eye-opening — er, ear-opening — demonstration!
