When St. Patrick’s Day rolled around, tons of students at Indiana Elementary School were decked out in their best green clothes to celebrate… only to find out that it was also picture day.

Normally, parents are upset when they realize they’ve sent their kid to school in an outfit that’s not picture-day-worthy, but when they got their kid’s proof photos back, all they could do was laugh. Because the photographers used a green screen, any clothing that was green totally disappeared!
Part of the confusion surrounding picture day stemmed from the fact that the original day was postponed twice already due to bad weather. Add in the fact that they had already had fall photos taken, and you end up with the best misunderstanding ever.
“He had a dark green shirt on,” Amanda Snow said when showing off her son’s photo. “The top of his hoodie is green, so he turned into the fence here. He had lime green shorts on, so I guess the darker the shirt the more transparent the background comes through. And he had a green mohawk, but that is completely gone.”
It was difficult for 6-year-old Oliver Snow to understand why his photos looked so weird, but he didn’t need an explanation to understand why they were hilarious!
Wanting to find out if this happened to anyone else, Amanda reached out to other parents online.
“So I posted in a local mom’s group on Facebook like, ‘Does anybody else have funny pictures from St. Patrick’s Day?’ And so many people do,” she said. “So many good ones.”
From there, tons of parents began sharing their photos, all of which led to some great laughs. Because, come on, how can anyone be mad when this adorable little girl looks so happy to be one with the flower bed behind her?
Soon after this hilarious mishap blew up, the photographers, Inter-State Studio, issued a statement. It turns out, any photos that the parents decide to order won’t actually look like their child is partly transparent.
“We try to get digital proofs in front of people quickly, so this is an example of seeing it before it goes through that post-production process,” they wrote. “Typically, this is caught in an earlier, automated stage. This image is not the final product because it gets fixed in post-production. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this specific instance – everyone has had such a good sense of humor about this!”
Although it’s nice that parents will be able to order normal-looking photos after all, it turns out, some parents may prefer the ones that are a bit more unique.
“I might reach out to the company and see if I can get the unedited ones,” Amanda said. “Because honestly, they’ve brought me so much joy and laughter over the last day.”
