As surprising as this may sound, this dog is not alone in his pursuit of warm companionship. According to the folks at Wagl, dogs often seek out water tanks because they generate heat. Although that doesn’t account for the rapt stare, it does explain the allure.
The same video was discussed on Reddit, and users had several suggestions. Rivertpostie and BashfullyBi played a bit of one-upmanship while touting their ghosthunting credentials. They both agree that the dog is fascinated because the water tank is haunted. User theincredibleharsh added that the dog is a certified good boi.
Other commenters on TikTok and Reddit also expressed concern that the dog was sensing a problem with the water tank. They urged the OP to have the unit checked for a possible gas or carbon monoxide leak. This seems unlikely because her dog is staring lovingly at the water tank. If there were a problem, the watchful pup would probably alert differently. However, it is worth inspecting the unit to rule out that possibility.
The homeowner has shared several videos of the dog’s reaction to the water tank. In each, the happy pup runs to see her “friend,” wags and stares, but otherwise acts perfectly normal. They may eventually figure out what is attracting the dog. Until then, we can continue to laugh at this silly love affair.
