As we get older, the ways we celebrate Christmas tend to change. There are the traditions we’ll always keep up, of course, but there are others we eventually stop doing. For a woman named Emily, one she’s left behind is leaving a note, along with milk and cookies, for Santa on Christmas Eve. But not all of our old traditions stay in the past.

Every once in a while, we may find ourselves looking for ways to connect with our inner child. This Christmas, Emily chose to do just that by continuing this Christmas Eve tradition. As an adult, she knows there isn’t a Santa to leave cookies and a note for, but that wasn’t the point, of course.
“I hope you have not forgotten about me even though it has been so long since I have wrote to you,” Emily’s note reads. “… Do you remember [when] I used to ask you to [give] me a prince? Well I [got] my very own prince … I don’t know if you had anything to do with it… he is the most perfect and sweet boy.”
She goes on to thank Santa for the “sweet memories” he gave her as a child, noting that because of them she will “always believe!”
Woman Leaves Heartfelt Note for Santa
Little did Emily know that, although Santa isn’t around to appreciate her kindness, there is someone in her life who will… her husband! Touched by Emily’s sweet words, he drinks the milk and eat the cookies —leaving a bite or two behind, of course. Best of all, he leaves his own heartfelt note.
“Of course I have not forgotten you!” his reply reads. “I have missed you, and I am so glad to hear from you again. The boy I sent you was not perfect! However, he did try for you because he saw how amazing you are! He was not a prince but did become a king due to marrying a queen.”
With this simple, sweet act of love, Emily’s husband helped make her Christmas all the more special and memorable.
“This sweet boy is healing my inner child more and more,” Emily shares.
