During the Grammys on February 2, she brought along a plus one that made many people smile. No, it wasn’t her mom or her niece. She didn’t bring a love interest or her childhood best friend. Cynthia Erivo brought along a special person whose talent spoke to many people, quite literally.

Cynthia Erivo Brought An Interpreter With Her

The star invited the interpreter along with her daily interviews on the red carpet so she could translate the interviews into American Sign Language. As Cynthia spoke to reporters and answered their questions, the interpreter signed alongside her. Seeing the deaf community represented meant a lot to many people.

TikToker @hannahmerson27 shared the video captioned, “This is something I’ve never seen anyone do!!?”

She also shared texted on the video that reads, “The fact Cynthia Erivo brought her own sign language interpreter for her Grammy’s interviews?? Absolutely Love”

It was a refreshing moment that many fans loved.

One hoped seeing the interpreter would bring more inclusivity to awards shows, writing, “They should absolutely have them for each interviewer!!”
