It’s A Girl: Olympic Gender Reveal Gives Ryan Murphy A Big Surprise
Murphy was focused on his backstroke race and did an impressive job, earning him the third spot. According to People, “He finished at 52.39 seconds.” If you think that is fast, remember that that was the third best time. Second place, Jiayù Xu, came in at 52.32 seconds, just barely beating Murphy. Finally, the gold medalist, Thomas Ceccon, came in first with an impressive 52 seconds flat. As you can see, the race was neck and neck.
However, once Murphy was out and awarded his medal, there was something else that held his focus. He noticed that he was experiencing his own Olympic gender reveal. Ryan Murphy’s wife, Bridget Konttinem, was standing in the crowd holding up a large white sign. The black lettering read, “Ryan, it’s a girl!”
WBAL TV 11 shares Ryan’s surprise. When chatting with them, Ryan Murphy claimed that reading the sign was his first time learning the gender as well.
“We both – we honestly both thought it was going to be a boy,” he admitted.

Regardless of the gender, it was evident that Ryan and Bridget were excited about their new baby. Photos share the loving couple hugging and kissing in the stands, celebrating this joyous occasion. They aren’t the only ones celebrating. Friends and family were also excited.
In fact, one of Murphy’s friends, Trevor Lawrence, is also having a daughter. Perhaps their friendship will now continue on through their children. In addition, photos show that several of Bridget’s loved ones stood by her and helped her share the special news with her husband.
