Instead of wasting her $46,000 wedding, Lindsay decided to keep the party and celebrate something more appropriate. According to PEOPLE, she renamed the reception “Celebration of Freedom.”

Lindsay and her partner had been together for 12 years, and everyone was excited for them to tie the knot. So imagine this bride’s surprise when she caught her fiance cheating. While she canceled the wedding celebration due to the cheating scandal, she decided to keep the reception in full swing. All guests were messaged with the updates, so everyone came prepared.

Celebration of Freedom

There was no shortage of guests in attendance. More than 60 guests showed up for this bride’s Celebration of Freedom, and it had all the things any wedding celebration would have—minus the cheating husband. There were speeches, delicious food, and a DJ party to boot.

Let’s not forget the bartender who made bellinis and martinis for all of the guests. Lindsay’s bridesmaids still rocked their dresses, as the bride herself “was dressed in her $1,600 Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal cropped wedding dress.”

Lindsay’s maid of honor held up a sign that read, “And she lived happily ever after,” while her guests feasted on fish cakes, chicken, and a chocolate fudge cake. The evening was full of good times, smiles, and empowering songs.

Lindsay told the New York Post, “I didn’t know how I was going to survive. I was distraught—it was too late to go back on the wedding plans.” However, she shared that she was pleasantly surprised by the amount of support she received.

“I’m glad I did it — I really enjoyed the day,” she shared. “I was so surprised with how supportive everyone was — it was so empowering.” If there is a right way to handle your fiance cheating on you right before your wedding, this is it.
