An ultimatum followed by a forced decision, heartbreak, and an unfulfilled childhood dream. This is a one- or two-tissue read, but they’ll be happy tears. After selling her childhood horse, Matti’s life went on. She grew up, became a photographer, and started raising a family. When her 6-year-old daughter, Zoe, had her first horseback riding lesson, Matti recalled Beau. Matti told her young daughter about Beau and how she had to sell him all those years ago.

Matti talked about the animal and how sad she had been. Zoe, with the wisdom and candor of a 6-year-old, asked her mom why she didn’t look for him. And thus began the search. It was grueling, time-consuming, and emotionally draining. Did you watch the video? It took 48 hours and one phone call. It was emotionally uplifting. And then there was the reunion.

The happy ending has happened. Matti reunited with the childhood horse she had to give up almost two decades ago. Her children will grow up with all the joy of owning a horse. Beau took a bit to adjust, but he did recognize Matti. He knows he is home. He will spend his twilight years in the loving embrace of his girl, now woman, and her children.

They may say life isn’t a fairy tale, but you will never convince Matti. She has lived this story and arrived at her happily ever after. The enchantment has come full circle.
