According to WPTA, Loki originally got loose while one of Samantha’s friends was pet-sitting. Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control found the emotional support dog wandering Warsaw Street nearly two years later! They reported that the animal looked remarkably well cared for, indicating that someone must have been looking after him during that time.
Thankfully, Loki was microchipped. That’s what enabled animal control personnel to find his rightful owner!
“The microchip was a lifesaver,” Samantha told the news outlet. “Without that, I wouldn’t have gotten my boy back.”
She added, “I definitely encourage people to get it.”
Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control shared the most beautiful video on social media of Samatha’s reunion with her emotional support dog. As soon as Loki saw his mom, he went absolutely wild with excitement! He could barely contain himself as he jumped all over her, wagging his tail.

On Facebook, the shelter added another reminder to pet owners to please, please microchip their animals!
“This is why we advocate so frequently to please get your pets microchipped in the event they ever become lost,” they wrote.
Samantha told WPTA that she had just about “lost hope” before receiving the call from animal control. She’s so overjoyed to have her emotional support dog back! Although the pooch is apparently still getting used to living with Mom again, he seems pretty happy to be reunited with her. We’re so glad that Loki is finally home!
