Woman With World’s Longest Fingernails Finally Gets Them Cut After 29 Yrs

Image shows the hands of Ayanna Williams, the world record holder for longest fingernails, after getting her nails cut for the first time in 29 years.

Ayanna Williams has held a Guinness World Record for the world’s longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female) since 2017. She recently broke her record with a new measurement. She has been growing her fingernails since the early 1990s. After over 28 years, Ayanna has done something completely out of character for her. She has cut her long nails!

The new world’s longest fingernails record for Ayanna is 733.55 cm (24 ft 0.7 in). The all-time record is still held by Lee Redmond, who passed away on December 14, 2023. After the final measurement of Ayanna’s nails, a dermatologist used an electric rotary tool to cut the nails near the fingertips. You will still be able to see Ayanna’s long nails. They will be on display in Orlando, Florida, at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum.

One thing that Ayanna won’t miss is taking care of her long nails. When she received her first world record for the longest fingernails, each manicure took nearly 20 hours and more than two bottles of nail polish. Before they were cut, manicures took days and three to four bottles of nail polish. Shorter nails will be much more manageable.

Ayanna will also be able to perform everyday household tasks that were impossible before. She was unable to do things like make a bed or wash dishes. Although we take these things for granted daily, it has been decades since Ayanna could do them herself.

Life Without The World’s Longest Fingernails

During an interview with GWR. she said, “With my movements I have to be very, very careful. So usually in my mind I’m already preparing for the next step that I have to do to make sure that I don’t hurt myself with my nails – or break them. I’m excited about cutting my nails because I’m looking forward to new beginnings.”

Please share to wish Ayanna good luck with those dishes!
