When a group of women consider themselves all besties, admitting new people to the roundtable can be challenging. Julia, Lai, and Caroline are a tight group. They are so tight that when Julia started dating a new guy, Lai and Caroline insisted on “vetting” him. The process was deadly serious but also hilarious. The two friends met Julia and her new boyfriend, and the drama commenced.

The girlfriends are dressed for the part, in suits, and look like professional lawyers working on a case. They brought an “Official Best Friend Dating Contract.” Once introductions were complete, the inquisition began.
The document opens with a brief introductory paragraph that begins: “This legally questionable but morally binding contract…” The document contains seven clauses. After reading and discussing each clause, Sean, the new boyfriend, had to initial the document.
The first clause, “Respect & Adoration,” outlines how the dangerous duo expects the new boyfriend to treat their bestie. A detailed “Food Sharing Policy” is next and heavily favors Julia. The third clause deals with “Emotional Support.” This section deals with text message response time and guidelines about listening intently.

Movie-watching is in the “Netflix Integrity Clause.” Due to the importance, we include it in its entirety: “The Person Dating Our Best Friend shall not, under any circumstances, watch ahead on any TV show they started together. Failure to comply will result in a forced rewatch with enthusiastic commentary about what’s coming next.”
The fifth clause, “Girls’ Night Protection Act” outlines the rules when it is Girls Night Out. The final two clauses are “Pet & Family Approval” and “Breakup Clause.” Hopefully, the new couple will never need that last clause. Follow this link to view the entire document.
